Introduction to Project Management (CAPM)

Overview An introduction to the concepts of Project Management with an overview of techniques applied and tools available.  Students will be exposed to typical approaches employed with Project Management of small as well as large projects. Case studies of both successful and unsuccessful project initiatives will provide insights into strategy alternatives and explore best practices with respect to these alternatives. After finishing this program student will able to take PMI's exam for Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® PMI’s Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® is a valuable entry-level certification for project practitioners. Designed for those with little or no project experience, the CAPM® demonstrates your understanding of the fundamental knowledge, terminology and processes of effective project management. Whether you’re a student, new to project management, changing careers, or already serving as a subject matter expert on project teams, the CAPM can get your career on the right path or take it to the next level. To apply for the CAPM, you need to have:
      • A secondary diploma (high school or the global equivalent)AND
      • At least 1,500 hours experience
OR
      • 23 hours of project management education by the time you sit for the exam.
Audience LIIT's Project Management certificate program is designed for many professionals including: Software engineers and team leaders, project management office directors/managers, Six Sigma and other quality control or and IT managers, business/systems analysts, product consultants, IS/IT professionals and anyone interested in adding new process skills. Objective
  1. Provide the students with an exposure to the basics of Project Management theory, as applicable to various project sizes in various industries, as well as exposure to elementary techniques and software tools used in Project Management.
  2. Engage the students in discussion of simulated and real-life situations for the purpose of applying this theory, selecting the optimal management choices, and using the appropriate management tools.
  3. Empower the student with the skills to allow the confident participation on large scale project teams as well as the ability to lead small projects.
  4. Enlighten the students toward consideration of professional certification in Project Management (the PMP certification).
